Our SilkWood Oil M2 Range:
M2 is ideally suitable for low to medium density woods like:

Application Criteria M2:
- There is no need to dilute the M2 product range with mineral turpentine, this should only be done for the M7 product range.
-The surface to be dry, clean and free of all contaminants, e.g. previous paints or varnishes.
-The surface should be well sanded, down to the bare grain to get excellent results.
-The product can be spray or brush applied.
-An initial coating followed by at least two successive coats should be applied. X3 recommend coats should be applied to your application.
-Adequate drying should take place between coats, you should allow 24-28 hours drying per coat.
-If the surface has a fluffy appearance it should be rubbed with either a Scotchgarde, pad or steel wool prior to coating.
-The drying time can vary depending upon the ambient temperature and humidity.
-For optimal results, all surfaces including the end grain should be coated.
- To get the best results using Silkwood’s product range when applying its should be done so in a sparingly motion and not just blotched on and painted.
-Do not expose the product to naked flames etc, as it is flammable.
Our SilkWood Oil M7 Range:
M7 is suitable for medium to high density woods such as:
• Mahogany
• Maple
• Stinkwood
• Imbuia
• Timber and other wood generally used for Decking, Exterior furniture and Wooden homes.

- Timber Decking
- Outdoor Patio Furniture
- Side Skirtings
Available in both 5L and 1L sizes.
Application Criteria M7:
- First coat must be mixed with 50% Silkwood mineral turps & 50% Silkwood M7, this is imperative stirred very well before use then applied to your application this will ensure the wood gets the proper nutrients and nourishment is deserves.
- Second & Third coat can be applied straight from the M7 tin and applied directly to the application. We recommend X3 coats to your application to get optimum results.
- We Suggest 1 under coat, and 2 topcoats for decking and X3 coats to any other application, please apply Silkwood to the side of the timber edges, as well for decking.

What do I apply the Wood Oil with?
You can apply this product with a Garden Pressure Sprayer, Sponge and large brush with fine bristles. Or you can simply dip if the product if it is small enough to fit.
Can I use Silkwood oils on a previously varnished wood projects?
Yes, if you previously varnished a product and want to make the change over to oil, it is highly recommended that you sand the varnish, clean and apply the oil. Please note that drying time will be slower on varnished products.
Can Silkwood Oil take out wood rot and blackspot?
Minor black spotting is a sign that water has started to cause rot in the wood. Using Silkwood oils will prevent the rot progression, however it will not remove it.
How often should I use Silkwood oils?
Treatments is dependent on the type of product and its exposure to the elements, Garage doors with high UV exposure need treatments every 3-4 months. Decking 6-12 months
Is oiling your products better than Varnishing?
Varnishing does not treat the wood like oil does, oil penetrates the wood treating and maintaining its structural integrity. Where as varnish seals the wood. However varnish cracks and allows water to get into the wood leading to wood rot.
What weather conditions are best for applying the Silkwood oil?
Sunny with zero to low chances of rain for the following 48 hours.
